About this course
SenCom Support Service for d/Deaf Children and Young People offer a range of training options to help support schools and settings to meet the needs of their learners identified with varying levels of deafness. There may also be learners attending schools and settings who are awaiting audiological assessments.
There is an expectation that schools will review Deaf Awareness Training on a three yearly cycle to ensure that key staff maintain up to date training.
Aims of the course
This training would provide the participants with an essential core understanding of deafness, its impact, types of deafness, communication strategies and support strategies.
