Core Deaf Awareness Training with Practical Session on Hearing Aid Management (September)

About this course

SenCom Support Service for d/Deaf Children and Young People offer a range of training options to help support schools and settings to meet the needs of their learners identified with varying levels of deafness. There may also be learners attending schools and settings who are awaiting audiological assessments.

There is an expectation that schools will review Deaf Awareness Training on a three yearly cycle to ensure that key staff maintain up to date training.

This is a free course. There is also an option to purchase your own Hearing Aid Care Kit (£25 charge per kit).

Aims of the course

In this training participants will receive essential core understanding of deafness, its impact, types of deafness, communication strategies and support strategies. In addition to this there will be practical sessions to give a greater understanding of the experience of deafness and hands on experience of the management and maintenance of hearing equipment.
