About this course

ComIT Phonological Awareness Toolkit Workshop

This practical half-day workshop introduces the new ComIT Phonological Awareness Toolkit and how it can be used to develop early listening and phonological awareness skills in young children. Participants will explore engaging activities and resources to support listening, rhyme, rhythm, syllable awareness, sound discrimination and early phoneme awareness in early years and school settings.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of phonological awareness for speech, language and literacy development.
  • Confidently use the ComIT Phonological Awareness Toolkit.
  • Deliver activities that develop listening, rhyme, rhythm, syllable awareness and sound discrimination skills.
  • Adapt toolkit activities to meet the needs of a range of learners.
  • Plan and implement phonological awareness activities within their setting.

To support practitioners working in both English and Welsh-medium settings, this half-day workshop is delivered as:
