About this course
An additional listening device, commonly known as a radio aid, helps to reduce the effects of background noise, distance, and reverberation within educational settings.
The system works alongside a child or young person's hearing aids or cochlear implants, making it easier for them to focus on important sounds and voices, such as a teacher's instruction.
When used effectively, radio aids can significantly improve access to learning, support participation in the classroom, and positively impact educational progress.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the training, participants will:
- Understand the purpose and benefits of radio aid technology.
- Be able to correctly set up and use radio aid equipment.
- Recognise common issues and know how to carry out basic troubleshooting.
- Understand their role in supporting a learner who uses a radio aid.
- Promote effective classroom practice to maximise access to learning.
